How to read it
HbA1c shows your average blood sugar over about 3 months. The estimated average glucose (eAG) is worked out as 28.7 x HbA1c - 46.7.
- Below 5.7%: normal range
- 5.7% to 6.4%: prediabetes range
- 6.5% or more: diabetes range
For people with diabetes, many doctors aim for under 7%, but the right target depends on age, health and medicines. Your doctor sets yours.
